145 studio-albums, 8 mixtapes, 7 ep’s and 1 single. My winner was a absolute certainty. Best record of the year, easily. As a whole as well as every single song on this disc, it pushes, it comforts or it doesn’t. Beefheart died about a year ago, long live Harvey. From punk/post-punk she moved to avant-garde pop. Making a England/war concept album from the point of view of the soil itself, and does it utterly brilliant. In fact so brilliant that it takes top-spots in all sorts of big-music-platforms. For an album which is far from an easy listen, that’s special. Fact: Pj Harvey made the best record of the year. Fiction: you know….science as an objective method.

So the year of the big releases turns out to be an disappointment. Wilco and Fleet foxes were maybe less spectacular as some of their previous work, but it still made me pitch a tent.  

Björk, U.S. Christmas, Boris, Yob,   CunninLynguists, Radiohead were good but dissatisfying.

The Black Keys, Bon Iver, The Throne, Weedeater and The roots overrated, not living up to what, in our desire for yet another top-release of our favorite band, bullshit praise we might have spit towards them.

Russian Circles, Lil Wayne, My Morning Jacket,   Low, Bright eyes, Jesu, Wormrot, Raekwon, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, St Vincent, Boris – new album, The decemberists, Panda Bear, The Horrors all VERY disappointing

And last but not least, we have the big acts who were just plain bad going on terrible. Zola Jesus, Paul Kalkbrenner, Arctic Monkeys, Gohstface Killah, Strokes, Ulver, The Dears, Amanda Palmer, Noah and the Whale. In order of mediocre tot amazingly disawesome.

Ow, there were a few names who didn’t live up to their hype; Tyler The Creator, James Blake, Seasick Steve, De Staat, Roosbeef, The Vaccines, Rustie & tUnE-yArDs.

Do you see the amount of names?? My whole list is filled with albums i found to be unsatisfying. Goddamn astronaut. And as compensation we have the spectacular Harvey, the delivering Waits, a few very awesome black metal names, a few awesome roadburn names, country, a dude screaming in a mic thinking he’s rapping (IT WORKS!) and 2 sweet voiced, pussy lovin, drug promoting R’n B singers. I don’t feel like it is enough to be enthusiastic about 2011. …..you know….like angela…..the crackwhore with awesome bj-skills. Let’s hope Tiaja stays of the meth and brings us an awesome Mark Lanegan album. …..and the next black keys just might be an ‘only by the night’.

Good year, good year. One of the best I musically and awarely (oempf) lived.   I've got a few nominations for 5 star records, straight A's, tens.. and that's that. Past years I'd spend the first thousand words cursing at you and explainning why my list is better then yours....and you. This year I feel no need, it got old, besides my list now speaks for itself, it's like god explaining why the globe is better then your peepshow. Ow, I'm doing this all in english now, because of all my international fans and aspirations. So take notice of the fact that this piece of writing would be even more hilariously funny and breathstunningly well written, if it wassn't for my lack of english...and time.....and mastery of grammar.

So I listened less then past years, 126 albums from which 7 were not strictly studio-albums but Soundtracks, mixtapes, best-offs or something, so those don't count. Leaves us with a list of 119. I also got my greedy fingers on 18 Ep's and 1 single, and made a little list offem. Got a lot of the harder/more difficult genres in the top (and bottom), but there is enough indie/pitchfork to go around I quess. Tried some of the best reviewed american country albums, and I enjoyd the whole thing, but not the albums themselfs. Still I think I try one or two every year. Made some casualties this year too, a lot of albums which I tried only because the were thought so highly of by critics/public, I had, sadly, had to give a pass mark (that's a mark with which you don't pass right??).

 Sinds ik deze weblog slechts nog gebruik voor mijn jaarovericht van geluid, en dat tirade na tirade over het slechte eten bij de plaatselijke (lees als almelo, met hoofdletter overigens) Chinees voorbij zijn gegaan, als de kou op het lichaam, als de honger voor een maaltijd, als het leven in 2008, als het korte moment van leven tussen twee oneindige fases van stilte, is voorbij gegaan, kan ik concluderen dat ik een erg lange zin nodig heb om te duiden dat hier een korte beschouwing van het muziekjaar begint.

 

Ik heb ongeveer alles geluisterd in 2008, en toch zo ontzettend veel niet, maar ach. Vul me maar in van wat ik gemist heb. Ik heb 132 cd's geluisterd die ik daadwerkelijk meetelde voor de lijst, 5 EP's, 1 remix album, 2 soundtracks en 2 cd's die ik niet mee kon tellen. Al deze cd's heb ik in zijn geheel beluisterd en BIJNA allemaal 5x. Ik zou willen zeggen dat het het jaar was van de americana-country rock. Britpop is dood, lang leve de niewue golf van amerikaans bands, want zoals altijd neemt de VS het weer over van de UK. Het stokje is overgegeven! Ik ben benieuwd of dubstep zich voortzet btw, denk het niet.

 

Komend jaar ga ik luisteren. Ehmmm meer Jazz,   bleus, Echte echte (lees als wat vroeger) gothic, beethoven,   electronische muziek,   meer verschillende cd's uit 2008, maar de kut cd's niet meer zo vaak. Nooit meer Snowpatrol, coldplay, U2, keane, kaiser chiefs, the bravery, travis, the killers enz. TENZIJ!! Het ofwel briljant ofwel compleet anders dan al het vorige moet zijn. Maar wat zoog nu echt het allerhardst van alles en iedereen!!! Nee, het is niet blof ondanks hun hillarische zeikerige teksten op labrador. Het is Gavin Rossdale!! Toyboy van die lelijke overated hoer van een Gwen stefanie! Walgelijk lelijk gebleekt wijf die zich omringd met zo klein mogelijke chineesjes zodat ze zichzelf een beetje kan etaleren als god. Maar genoeg over zijn teef, het is namelijk Gavin rosdale die dit jaar de meest belachelijk slechte cd heeft gemaakt, genaamd Wanderlust. Het is een aanrader want je hoort zelden zulke ongeinspireerde, overbodige kutmuziek, en ik heb toch de killers geluisterd dit jaar!

En ik wil jullie allemaal graag even bedanken voor een prachtige tijd.

Leerzaam, en vooral o-zo productief.

 

Hoewel ik mijn collega's beknopte constatering waardeer zoals alleen een collega dat echt kan vind ik wel dat u, beste lezer, moet weten WAAROM wij niet meer bloggen.

Geluid Mosquito moet hangjongeren uit straat jagen

 ZWOLLE - Hangjongeren in de Vermeerstraat – achter daklozenopvang Bonjour in Dieze – beleven binnenkort een voor hen vervelende primeur.

Ze worden als eerste groep in de stad 'belaagd' met de zogenoemde Mosquito, een apparaatje dat ultrahoge tonen uitzendt die voor jongeren binnen enkele minuten onverdraaglijk worden. Het idee: de hangjongeren kunnen op door de gemeente samen met omwonenden bepaalde tijden niet op hun favoriete stek rondhangen. Dan staat de Mosquito aan en zal de jeugd elders een plekje moeten zoeken.
